Individual Research Paper (70%) (2,000 words) assessing Learning Outcomes 1 and 2
Individual practical assignment (30%) assessing Learning Outcome 3

Data Mining - topics to include (not exhaustive): concepts, techniques, related disciplines (e.g. OLAP etc.), classification, clustering, Web, spatial and temporal mining.

Data Warehousing - architecture, star schema, tuning, loading, etc.

Customer Relationship Management - overview of, ECRM, MCRM etc. and Decision support systems

Quality and Integrity of Data

Principles of Extensible Mark-Up Language (XML) and structured data.

Principles of Web Databases using XML, use of data feeds, news feeds, XML applications (scalable vector graphics (SVG), voice xml etc)

Mobile databases: issues and technologies related to database technology

Advanced database querying languages.
