Module Learning Strategies
1 x day workshop, plus arranged contact with award tutor or with supervisors to discuss assessments This module will have associated with it a Negotiated Learning Contract. The purpose of the contract is to state how your learning will be supported, the specific award related learning outcomes that will need to be met in addition to the generic ones below, the assessment specification and marking criteria and a list of texts that might prove useful.
Academic contact time will be used to provide academic support for student learning on an ad-hoc basis via the VLE.
1 hour of Academic Contact time will be used for two individual 30 minute formative reviews. Where necessary, reviews will be conducted virtually using appropriate tools. Employer Feedback Forms will be completed by the work-based mentor and Self-assessment forms will be completed by the student. These will inform the reviews.

This module explicitly focuses on significant elements required for the achievement of the STAFFORDSHIRE GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES:

1. The hermeneutics of the research cycle.
2. Research planning.
3. Meaning of the professional and disciplinary context of research work.
4. Ethical and access issues related to investigation, experimentation, collaboration and publication.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Comprising:-
An ASSIGMT length 2200 WORDS weighted at 70% assessing learning outcomes 1-3
The research methods assignment will be completed individually, but on the basis of collaborative discussion and information exchange within a group. The assignment will compare and contrast a number of research methods.
A course work assignment weighted at 30% and assessing learning outcome 4
Development of a career action plan (minimum 800 words) with related career evaluation paperwork
