This module will engage you in practical design and manufacture, in order to enable analysis and reflection on a series of team activities backed up by means of a competitive forum. This will engage you to develop your own interaction styles and associated esteem whilst working within a team. You will develop management skills related to organisation, promotional events, and skills from working together in a community. The module will utilise both lectures and practical sessions in its delivery.

Assignment 1 -
A practical assignment based on a case study to model an Artificial Intelligence problem, with supporting presentation, covering Learning Outcomes 1 to 3.
Assignment 2 –
A practical case study to model a Chat Bot, with supporting presentation, covering Learning Outcomes 2 to 4.

An assessment consisting of two parts.
Assignment 1 -
Individual Skills Portfolio: Each student should maintain a learning journey skills portfolio which contains a copy of weekly meetings, evidence of individual contribution, and a reflective personal critical review of the activities and suggested improvements learned from developing solutions to robotic and AI based problems (Learning Outcomes 1 to 3).
Assignment 2 -
Group Engagement log: A grade is attributed to the group contribution to the activities of Assignment 1, examining areas such as originality, functionality of design, group interaction, and organisation skills etc. (Learning Outcomes 1 to 3).
Module Indicative Content
This module will engage students in:
- Organising, and designing STEM related activities such as ‘SOAP-BOX’ racing using both traditional and Electric vernacular design either as a ride-on or drag racing approach.
- Designing human / Robotic limbs construction - simple mechanics joints
- Simple programming using commonplace Robotic Arms under various modes of operation
- Creative design of “Future Products with AI” e.g. Smart Cars, Terminator, and Talking Computer
- Designing and implementing world environments
Throughout the module students in completing design activities will consider the correct and trustworthiness of appropriate software/hardware used, and give appropriate consideration to Health and Safety, and potential Cyber Attack, and Data breaches.
