ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
These mandated assessments will be carried out in line with the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education’s (IfATE) Cyber Security Technical Professional (Integrated Degree) (ST0409) and its corresponding Apprenticeship End-Point Assessment Plan (EPAP): st0409-cyber-security-technical-prof-l6-v4.pdf

The EPAP prescribes the assessment and grading criteria for each assessment component, which will be applied in the implementation of assessment.

Assessment 1, the practical test, consists of four 12-hour exercises (Design for Security, Test for Security, Monitor, Defensive Programming), completed over two weeks in a controlled environment. Each exercise involves practical tasks and a 1,000-word written justification. Apprentices must pass all exercises to pass the test. The test is assessed by an Independent End-Point Assessor (IEPA) against specified Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) and graded Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction. (Learning outcomes 1 & 2)

Assessment 2, the technical discussion, is a 120-minute structured conversation between the apprentice and the IEPA, based on the apprentice’s submitted portfolio. It assesses specified KSBs and is designed to give the apprentice the best opportunity to demonstrate their competence. It is graded Pass or Fail only. (Learning outcomes 3 & 4)
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module enables apprentices to complete the End-Point Assessment (EPA) for the Cyber Security Technical Professional Integrated Degree Apprenticeship. Apprentices will demonstrate their competence against the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard through an independently assessed Practical Test and Technical Discussion.

As apprentices will have passed through Gateway before undertaking this module, no new teaching or learning takes place; the focus is on assessment only.

This module incorporates all relevant KSBs and assessment requirements as defined in the Cyber Security Technical Professional (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship End-Point Assessment Plan.
WEB DESCRIPTOR
This core module allows apprentices to demonstrate their professional competence to an Independent End-Point Assessor through the completion of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) for the Cyber Security Technical Professional Integrated Degree Apprenticeship. The EPA includes a substantial Practical Test and a structured Technical Discussion, both of which assess the apprentice’s application of knowledge, skills and behaviours developed throughout the programme.

As apprentices will have passed through Gateway prior to this module, no new teaching takes place; the focus is on assessment. This module must be passed to complete and achieve the integrated degree apprenticeship.
