Module Details
MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Critically assess and evaluate the mechanisms and architectural principles of network communications systems.
2. Demonstrate critical understanding of the core enterprise network technologies.
3. Demonstrate understanding and critically assess different Layer 3 and routing algorithms, applying the results to solve a given scenario to applicable professional standards within a secure infrastructure.
4. Demonstrate systematic understanding and critically assess different Layer 2 technologies, including Ethernet and applying the results to solve a given scenario to advanced professional standards.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A written examination that tests practical networking knowledge of length 2 hours, weighted at 100% (Learning Outcomes 1 to 4)
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will cover the following topics:
Developing skills required for implementing core enterprise network technologies including:
dual stack (IPv4 and IPv6) architecture,
virtualization,
infrastructure,
network assurance,
security,
and automation.

Transferring knowledge for implementation and troubleshooting of advanced routing technologies and services including:
Layer 2 & Layer 3,
VPN services,
infrastructure security, infrastructure services,
and infrastructure automation.
Implementing Solutions based on:
EIGRP
OSPF,
BGP,
Route filtering and route redistribution and path control.
MODULE WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module teaches you the latest advances in routed and switched networks. The module adopts learning through doing as it’s ethos which has been proven to be the most effective way to learn in this field of study. The curriculum is the most up to date as the module follows the latest Cisco curriculum. Due to this the module prepares you for the professional certification of Cisco CCNP. This is a highly demanding certification that verifies the knowledge and skills required to implement and troubleshoot advanced routing solutions and services with core enterprise network technologies.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
The lectures (teaching network theory) are followed by hands on practical activities in a Cisco lab and/or relevant simulation/emulation environment. The module will in part cover topics from CCNP ENCOR and ENARSI curriculum from Cisco in practical sessions.
