Module Learning Strategies
A few lectures and tutorials will be used to present the module contents and organisation, the case study scenario, various aspects of communication and team working. The student groups will interview the staff, who will role play, in order to gain a more detailed insight into the requirements of the system. During the tutorial periods and in unsupervised study time the student groups will analyse, design and develop a working solution to the presented problem. A total of 36 hours will be timetabled.

A variety of textbooks, journals and electronic resources as appropriate to the case study.
Module Additional Assessment Details

100% coursework weighted at 100% involving a portfolio of staged assessed items based around a business case study scenario.

This will consist of a group mark derived from :
Problem analysis report and strategic plan (LO1) - 20%
A functioning prototype IT solution and associated documentation (LO2) - 70%
Presentations (LO3) - 10%

Each individual student grade will be derived from:
The group mark - 70%
Individual contribution to presentations - 10%
An individual report of 1500 words maximum containing a critical appraisal and evaluation of the process and product (LO4) - 20%

The individual marks above will be subject to moderation from peer group assessment and tutor observation.
Module Indicative Content
Working typically in groups of three or four you will investigate a business case study and develop a strategy for the solution of its problems, the gaining of competitive advantage and the development of suitable prototype IT support for this strategy.
