Module Texts
As appropriate to your individual proposal and identified in the Learning Contract.
You are expected to take advantage of the extensive library facilities available within the University; keeping abreast of current developments through appropriate periodicals and being aware of the work of major authorities in your subject area.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Portfolio to be negotiated with the module supervisor in line with the approved Learning Contract. It will consist of either:
Coursework (100%)
The exact nature and content being identified by you, with appropriate staff help, in the Learning
Contract.
This option would be appropriate for theoretical research with a written outcome (although alternative ways of presentation might be negotiated).
OR
Coursework (75%)
The exact nature and content being identified by you, with appropriate staff help, in the Learning Contract.
AND
Critically Reflective Report (25%)
This should demonstrate the use of an appropriate logbook form and set out your project ideas in relation to your aims and objectives. It should identify your practical and research methods and demonstrate how you are using them to inform your project. It should also begin to evidence your ability to critically evaluate, over a period of time, your ideas and concerns.
This option would be appropriate for a research project that is mainly based in practice.
Assessment details will adhere to the Faculty Assessment Guidelines and in particular the appropriate use of word limits for different credit weightings
Module Learning Strategies
Learning Strategies are to be taken from your own negotiated and approved Learning Contract. Guidelines on contact time with the module tutor for an independent project are 6 hours, but additional resources might be negotiated, such as the attendance of running modules to inform the research, which would probably add to the contact time.
Where appropriate, workshop training including health and safety issues.
In practice-based modules, appropriate student supervision beyond the stated contact learning hours might be determined by the availability of workshop technicians, and will be in accordance with current health and safety requirements.
Module Resources
Resources are to be negotiated within your approved Learning Contract.
Module Indicative Content
To be taken from your own negotiated and approved Learning Contract.
The Learning Outcomes will be taken from your own negotiated and approved Learning Contract. The module outcomes will be agreed and approved by the subject specific mentor, the module leader of the Approaches to Flexible Learning module, the award leader and the external examiner for the Masters by Negotiated Study programme as part of the negotiation and review process of the Learning Contract.
All learning outcomes will be mapped to the Staffordshire University Typology
