Module Additional Assessment Details
Class test portfolio 30%. Learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Three short blackboard class tests of maximum duration 20 minutes will be held during tutorial periods spread throughout the semester. Questions will be related to current lecture material and will be selected at random from a suitable question bank. Each test will be machine marked to ensure timely feedback.
Assignment 70%. Development of a web site using a variety of techniques and design decisions. Learning outcomes 1, 2 and 4. 6-10 web pages and supporting document. (1000 words).

The Web page design and construction process using a text editor and a suitable HTML development tool.
Search engines for the Web.
Simple navigation principles.
A web methodology
Security risks associated with use of the Internet
Accessibility issues in web design
Evaluation of web pages based on design principles
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures will provide students with a broad overview of the indicative content and demonstrations of good practice in a variety of topics. Learning support material will be provided. The practical nature of the module is covered by practical tutorials each week. Formative and summative tests will be provided.
Normally one hour lecture, two hour practical.
