Module Details
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Creation of a web based media showcase supported by a report of 1500 words that discusses the approaches used in designing, creation, address of legal and social issues involved, and evaluation work undertaken. The showcase will contain photographical work (e.g. posters and imagery), 2D graphics (logos and design layouts), 2D animation, 3D models, and video segments. As an example the showcase could be to develop a web application to promote a movie. By designing the showcase you will work to different specifications and formats to produce different solutions.

INDICATIVE CONTENT
Students will look at all elements of media creation for the web. This will include the following:-

Overview of media Creation and Editing
Multimedia design techniques
Video editing and composition
Design of 2D characters and animation sequences
Developing and incorporating sound
2D representations such as logos, posters and branding
Creation of 3D objects and characters
Legal, social and ethical issues of media creation and distribution
Multimedia application types - mobile, desktop, web, CD and DVD
Evaluation and testing of multimedia interaces
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The module is taught over a two week period. The first week taking place in February and the second in June. Class contact within these two weeks will be 15 hours per week with classes being made up of 3 hour blocked lab sessions, which will contain mini-lectures to support the underlying knowledge and skills required to complete the module. Students will be encouraged to expand their knowledge in the area outside tutorial slots. Predominantly the module is practical based where students will learn many applications with which to implement web based media artefacts.
