Module Details
Module Learning Strategies
The module asks you to create a completed artefact from the proposal. The learning activity centres on analysing, developing and refining design solutions outlined in your proposal documentation and specifications. They should be resolved into a completed artefact through the application of all the award learning outcomes.

1) Introductory lectures.

2) Attendance at events and exhibitions related to your specific area of study (and wider) would be encouraged.

3) Participation in regular interim group critiques and tutorials (4 hours in total) to test, evaluate, and refine work-in-progress, knowledge and background development as presented by yourself and other students.

Appropriate material (on-line) for the brief's area of development.

Recommended:
You will be expected to take full advantage of the extensive library facilities available within the University, keeping abreast of current developments within your area of study, and wider, through current periodicals and being aware of the major practitioners in your subject specialist study area.
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Enrolled on one of the Digital Applications for Creative Technology suite of awards.
Module Indicative Content
You will be expected to complete outline specifications for two projects. One you will choose to develop as your main project, the second will be held as reserve.

You will focus on contextual research, project development, documentation skills and innovative problem solving. You will research and analyse to inform and develop your proposal.

You will go on to complete a project based on the outline you have proposed and the specifications you have developed. You will monitor, review and evaluate progress towards the production and completion of your programme's declared and definitive outcomes.

Your final programme must be approved following discussions between yourself and your supervising tutor(s) and after submitting the required completed ethical forms for University committee review.

You will work on:

- Negotiation with staff, colleagues and outside content providers and other resources to develop a final scheduled programme of work;

- Expansion of themes, features and fine-detail to "put-flesh" on your design proposal;

- Focused management of your project to bring it in on schedule and to specification;

- Innovative and pro-active solutions, and energetic and rational responses, to the inevitable hurdles and negative feedback that accompanies media production;

- Investigation of users needs and responses through prototypes and feedback:

- participate in a National design competition if appropriate;

You should attend lectures/debates/open discussions covering:

- project management;

- market and cultural developments;

- legal and professional issues;

- technological trends and opportunities;
Module Additional Assessment Details

PROJECT - weighted at 100%

100% coursework including a number of negotiated and agreed components encompassing learning outcomes 1-7

Assessment activity

1) Two detailed proposals (one to be chosen) and specifications (on the chosen) that:

a. detail your research into the project context and requirements;

b. are innovative and imaginative solutions to the project context and requirements;

c. provide an outline specification of production requirements and schedules, technical and market reviews applicable to the proposal;

d. highlight contextual research, including any user interviews/testing/viewing and feedback;

e. contain digital experiments and investigations of key technological features;

f. have annotations on researched material and on-screen grabs assessing success in matching user and market requirements

2) The production of a substantial body of work in your specialist area of study represented by one completed project. The emphasis in this assessment is towards a realised project, with a completed, resolved artefact/prototype/project. The design work produced should be near professional standard and illustrate the competent use of appropriate skills and/or techniques.
