Uses of media on mobile devices for applications and games
Smart Phones and their media restrictions
Developing applications with high media content for smart phones
Mobile Games and game play in a mobile environment
Mobile device hardware and operating systems
Sensors for multimedia applications
Mobile application / game development using a current language (such as Actionscript, Silverlight, Java or Objective C)
Module Additional Assessment Details
An Assignment weighted at 100% assessing Learning Outcomes 1-4.
The assignment will be to individually design a mobile game and a mobile multimedia application. The students in pairs will then implement one of their designs. An 8 minute presentation on an area of the current or future state of mobile multimedia or gaming, backed up with a 1000 word reflective report on that area. Completed individually.
Module Learning Strategies
The lecture will provide students opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to complete the module and will be supplemented with research based exercises. Group discussions wil also take place in these sessions. The lab session will support the practical element of the module, and will be faciltated with booklets, course texts, and the internet.
