Module Additional Assessment Details
- A media rich web appilcation using current standards and degradation methods.
- A literature review (1500 words) / presentation of 8 minutes on an area of the latest web standards in respect to multimedia
(Learning outcomes 1, 2, and 3)
Module Indicative Content
Students will look at several elements of web multimedia. This will include the following
- Comparison of different uses of multimedia on the web
- Web Multimedia Design
- Streaming Media - setup, deployment, encoding and reasoning
- Web Multimedia Testing
- Technical Issues - compression and bandwidth.
- Scalable Vector Graphics, Synchronised Multimedia Integration Language, Panoramas, Flash video
- Live Broadcast
- Web Accessibility for multimedia web sites
- Media delivery using HTML5

The module is taught as a 3 hour lab (1:20)3, which will contain mini-lectures to support the underlying knowledge and skills required to complete the module. Students will be encouraged to expand their knowledge in the area outside tutorial slots.
