Module Indicative Content
The module will introduce you to a range of theoretical perspectives including sustainability, enterprise and entrepreneurship. The module will explore the current government policy in relation to these themes.
It is helpful, though not essential, for students to come to the module with a live project idea that they wish to develop as this module engages you in the planning of a live project relevant to your individual work, career or interest aspirations.
Through a series of group workshops you will be introduced to a variety of planning tools commonly used within a professional environment. These will include: first and second hand research skills; presentation and pitching skills; environmental scanning frameworks; identifying and assessing risks; an introduction to budgeting and developing a monitoring and evaluation strategy. The module will also include exploration of the different stages of the development of a project.
You will utilise the knowledge and skills to develop a project proposal that you will develop into a presentation that will be pitched to a panel. You will then have the opportunity to build on your initial research and presentation to create a portfolio of work that will be assessed. This may also be of help to you in turning your project or business idea into reality.
