ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A FACILITATED WORKSHOP length 1000 WORDS weighted at 20% which creatively engages a group of people in an informal learning environment (This will assess learning outcomes 2, 3, 4, 5)
A WRITTEN REFLECTION length 1500 weighted at 30% based on the facilitated workshop (This will address learning outcomes 1 , 4 and 5)
PORTFOLIO total word length 2500 WORDS weighted at 50% . The portfolio will need to provide evidence that the minimum number of placement hours (75) have been completed in order to pass. Students will be required to complete a skills assessment as part of the portfolio. (This will assess learning outcomes 1- 5)

INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will explore a range of skills needed to effectively with children, young people and communities. Reflective practice will be further explored and will underpin the whole module. Ethical practice will also be explored. The skills covered in the module will include building relationships, using social media with communities and facilitation skills. Understanding needs of children, young people and communities will be discussed, including learning styles and multiple intelligences. Practical skills such as session planning, graphic facilitation techniques and participatory methods of engagement will also be explored. Students will be encouraged to apply these skills to practice and reflect on the use of these skills within their work.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module incorporates three inter-related learning strategies. These are:
1. Tutor led sessions which will give students an overview of the requirements of the module and the key theories and concepts relating to working with people (30 hours). Teaching methods used will include lectures, group work, experiential learning and class discussions.
2. The module will also require students to apply their learning in practice through undertaking 75 hours of placement which must include working with young people.
3. The independent study hours will allow for reading and research in relation to the module as well as reflection on their work practice. (195 hours)
