Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates three inter-related learning strategies. The six day-long workshops (6 x 6 hours) will be used for the consideration of the central issues relating to an advanced understanding of youth and community work. The tutorials (4 hours) will allow discussion of the individual critical research that students are undertaking to prepare their essays. The independent study (260 hours) will allow reading around selected topics, the development of individual critical responses to the reading and the preparation for the presentation and essay.
Module Indicative Content
The module presents a critical and up-to-date overview of the theoretical and practice issues involved in work with young people. The module will examine theoretical perspectives on young people's experiences of growing up at the turn of the 21st century as the module makes connections between representations of young people's lives, social policy frameworks such as Youth Matters, and a range of innovative practice interventions.
