Module Additional Assessment Details
The individual presentation must provide reflection on the student's practical experience including networking [Learning Outcome 3]. Equivalent to 1000 words

The portfolio of 3,000 words must contain:
1) Photographic or other evidence of project work demonstrating the participatory nature of the process.
2) Reflective essay containing a critical review of theoretical issues and practical work.

The portfolio will require evidence of the participatory development of practical work and the critical analysis of theoretical issues in arts and health [Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 4].
The portfolio will also demonstrate reading around the topics of the health context and community participation and consultation.
Module Indicative Content
This programme is designed to provide CPD for experienced artists in the area of arts and health. The module will provide artists with the knowledge, art/health-specific skills and confidence appropriate for art practitioners who wish to work in a health setting. The artists will learn about the structure of the health service and current health policies, as well as about the national and regional contexts of arts and health practice. The practitioner's view of the NHS will be examined, including how to negotiate at different levels within the health sector, how to communicate with NHS staff, and the role of arts and health workers. Finally, students will explore the issue of project evaluation, and learn how to provide evidence of the success of their projects. Students will also undertake a practical project and reflect on this area of work-related learning. Students who have completed the Certificate will be able to deliver commissioned artwork in the area of arts for health.
Module Learning Strategies
The module involves a multifaceted approach to learning. 24 hours will be spent in class, and there will be 126 hours of independent study. The independent study time will be largely dedicated to the development of a practical artistic work in the context of a health environment. Additional independent study time will be devoted to reading focused on texts and other materials relevant to the conceptual and practical aspects of the module and the portfolio assessment.
Module Resources
Library - where you will find relevant textbooks and journals.
Computer - where you will find relevant internet websites, particularly the 'Creative Remedies' regional arts and health website, which will host a dedicated on-line resource pack for students on the module.
Practical placement in health context - support provided by placement tutor.
As practicing artists, students will be expected to provide their own studios and materials.
