Coursework (100%) - 3000 words Essay
Undertake a case study of a family within your placement. Identify patterns and behaviours that reflect the ideas of the key theorists and suggest a framework for working with the family in the future. Framework to include
- a sociological and biblical overview of what constitutes 'family'
- introduction to the case study family context
- theoretical explanation of childhood stages and inter-relations
- a clear framework to support the family, including explanation of interventions

Assess Learning Outcomes 1-4
Module Indicative Content
This module will look at children and the different forms of family in which they are found. It will explore both biblical and sociological concepts of family, including the concept of family as a foundation for community. It will consider family as a foundation for learning and development - social learning, experiential learning, role modelling. There will be an exploration of issues surrounding family breakdown and skills needed for working with different family units. It will look at family systems and attachment theories.
Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills.
