Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills.
Module Indicative Content
This module will enable students to understand the principles of working as a Christian youth worker working with and in schools with pupils age 13-19, and will provide the knowledge and understanding for such work.
This module will cover:
a) the historical development of schools and the influence of the church and individual Christians on the formation of education today
b) youth work approaches to education and personal development
c) an understanding of both formal and informal educational work
d) legal, ethical and practical implications of working in schools
Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework (100%), students will be expected to complete both parts (3000 words total)
Choose one of these three activities and produce a 3000 word reflective account of the planning, delivery and evaluation of the chosen activity including theological reflection. Include the plan and an observation by a member of staff as appendices.
1) Prepare and present an assembly or lesson on a given topic.

OR
3) Prepare a written record of a chaplaincy or pastoral activity within school.
