Module Additional Assessment Details
Group presentation (45 minutes) Learning outcomes 2 and 4
a) Work as a team to prepare a 45 minute group presentation on a power and equality issue of your choice, to be delivered to a peer group of students. The assessment mark for this part of the assignment will be 50% staff assessment and 50% agreed mark by students observing. (40%)
Reflection (1800 words) Learning outcomes 1,2, 3 and 5
b) Provide an 1800 word reflection evaluating and interpreting the effectiveness of the team work demonstrated in the planning and delivery of your presentation drawing on relevant theory and theology. (60%)
Module Indicative Content
The purpose of this module is to give students the underpinning theory and theology to work with groups and to work in teams.
GROUP WORK to include group work theory including group processes and dynamics, practical application of these theories in a range of contexts and the capacity to analyse groups to enhance effectiveness.
Young People's Social Groups (cliques, crowds, gangs)
Theological perspectives on group work
Power and equality issues and their outworking in groups and anti oppressive practice.
Initiating, developing, maintaining and ending groups
Leadership, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
Working in teams to include cross-disciplinary teams, working under leadership in teams, collaborative and cooperative working. Team roles.
Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills
