Module Indicative Content
This module provides a foundation of understanding and practice in play work including the scope of occupational standards and application to practice. It introduces the GRACE principles ¿ Growth and learning through play, Relationship and communication, Acceptance and unconditional love, Community with responsibility and Empowerment that CYM have devised as core principles from a Christian perspective. Students learn how to apply the GRACE principles in practice in their context. Students explore how values and formed and translated into practice. Students learn different approaches to play and how to design, implement and evaluate play activities. They gain skills as a reflective and theologically reflective practitioner and learn how to work with colleagues taking responsibility for the work of others.
Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills.
