Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills.
Module Indicative Content
This module will consider the principles underpinning personnel and project management in voluntary, community, statutory sectors and Christian contexts. It will also consider the relationship between the aims and organizational structures and processes of the institutions. It will consider theological perspectives on management of self, others and work.

Coursework (100%)
a) Essay 60% (1800 words) Reflect on two aspects of management within your practice agency (eg management styles, organisational culture, planning and strategy, team work, evaluation, decision making) evaluating them in the light of theory and theology.

b) Class test 40% This assignment is to be completed under controlled conditions on the final morning of teaching for this module. Students may, however, bring in notes and books. Students will be given three scenarios, one on a grievance and disciplinary issue, one on a child protection issue and one on a health and safety issue. They are to choose two out of the three scenarios and write guided action plans addressing the situation outlined in the scenarios. At the end of each action plan students should add bullet points showing their use of theory and theology in the action plans.
