Module Details
Module Indicative Content
In light of the changing nature of schools and youth work, this module will explore missiological and pastoral approaches and contexts. It will develop an understanding of both formal and informal pastoral support and the importance of working in partnership with the local church(es). Students will develop the skills of working as a School Chaplain and understand the place of spiritual and moral issues within school. It will cover legal, ethical and practical implications of working in schools.

Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework: 50% 1500 words Critical Reflection on at least three activities or interventions in a Chaplaincy context including one worship or spiritual experience.

Coursework: 50% 1500 words Essay - critically analyse the particular and broader school, policy, legal and missional context in which you undertake your Chaplaincy role.
