Learning Outcomes 1-5
Module Indicative Content
The module will enable students to learn about another culture and to be able to reflect critically upon their own culture in the light of their experience. The experience is designed to enable them to learn about youth work in a cross cultural context and to equip them with the appropriate skills of reflection to apply what they have learnt to other youth work contexts. It involves a field trip abroad at an additional cost to the student. Support in raising these additional funds is available from the Regional Centre.
Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The field trip will help contextualise the theory addressed in this module. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the professional practice work place will help develop professional skills. The field trip abroad provides a real context for putting theory into practice and reflecting on the impact this has upon understanding of self, culture and gospel.
