Module Indicative Content
This module will provide a critically informed evaluation of the role Christians have and can fulfil within the school community. The module will provide a platform for students to engage with the changing policy environment for schools and to identify appropriate opportunities for contextual ministry.

This module will cover:
• the historical development of schools and the influence of the church and individual Christians on the formation of schooling practices
• the role of the church and religious institutions in contemporary schooling
• the current policy and legislative measures that shape school communities
• case studies and examples of Christian ministry towards and within schools
• support for developing a schools-based approach to contextual ministry
• a visit to a school that is an example of excellence in practice

Module Learning Strategies
This module incorporates several inter-related learning strategies. The interactive learning groups will provide lectures and seminars involving a combination of group activities, student led work, simulations, skills practice, discussion etc. The independent study provides opportunity for reading, library based and online research. The remote learning in the practice work place will help develop professional ministry skills.
