Module Indicative Content
The module will provide an overview of models of Practical Theology and illustrate how Christian Doctrine plays a normative role within practice. Students will be invited to see how practice and doctrine exist in an iterative relationship and will explore one area of doctrine in relation to examples of practice from their own context.

The aims of the module are to:

1. promote understanding and use of theological themes in ministry and professional practice
2. explore at least one key theological theme (e.g. ecclesiology, spirituality, pneumatology) in greater depth from a variety of perspectives
3. Enable analysis of ministry and/or professional practice in relation to identifiable theological themes
Module Learning Strategies

This module utilises the three inter-related learning strategies for the programme. Taught workshops consist of interactive presentations, discussion, and critical debate at the residential teaching blocks. Tutorials (in person and on-line) allow discussion of the individual research that students are undertaking to prepare their assignments. Independent study and professional practice allows for critical reading around selected topics, the development of individual responses to theory and practice; and the preparation for the assessment tasks.
