ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
The project will allow you to design an activity which you could utilise in the children, young people and family sector to promote their personal development through recognition, play or problem solving. (LO3)

The development of the portfolio will take place across semester 1 and 2 and will enable you to produce and participate in a range of activities. This will include both written and simulated tasks which will enable you to develop a portfolio whilst identifying new skills and enhancing existing one's as part of your preparation for future employment.(LO1 & 2)

Assessment of evidence in the Portfolio

50% assigned to the coverage of criteria and presentation of evidence

50% will be given for relevance/quality of evidence, and evidence of student’s abilities
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This 40-credit module will enable you to design a project geared towards either children, young people or families. From a practical and reflective stance this will enable you to look at what employability skills you could to obtain from ‘job advert to secure a suitable position’ in this area.

This module will support you in completing the following:

a) Designing a project (which would be accessible for children, young people and families to use)



Employment portfolio

b) CV

c) Skills Audit

d) Digital simulated activities

e) Action planning – identifying strengths and areas for development

f) Job Applications/ Cover letter

g) Interview prep
WEB DESCRIPTOR
Students will produce a portfolio which will aid their development in both their professional and personal practice using reflection and evaluation. This will coincide with students actively participating in a range of practical/simulated activities which will help them to comprehend the importance of what the future employers are seeking. This module will also provide students with the opportunity to create and design a project (interactive learning activity) which they could use with a family or individual to help them promote their own personal learning. All project activities will be peered reviewed and trialled with university service users to share learning and good practice.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (70 hours)



You will attend lectures or workshops on key topics. There will also be opportunities to participate in small groups to explore some of the key issues raised in lectures and undertake practical activities (scenario based). Online learning will consist of a range of activities which will include the participation of the use of software to practice mock interviews, complete group work tasks and to complete online individual learning journals. You will also be asked to take part in peer review which will further support the giving and receiving of constructive feedback.



Guided Independent Study: ( 330hours)



2 hrs online activities per week (48 hours)



Module and assessment support per 20hrs semester (40 hours)

127 hours: Independent reading - You will be expected to read the recommended reading and utilise the learning materials which you will have full access to via Blackboard.


115 hours: Project and Employability Portfolio preparation - you will need to undertake the necessary research and analysis to respond to the simulation activity. You will be expected to have made use of the relevant library resources/web-based sites to identify relevant academic texts/ journal articles.
