In this module students will prepare a proposal in the project initiation phase of level 6. This involves a preliminary investigation into the students’ academic specialism to identify a topic of interest addressing a commercial need and developing a management plan to implement a proposed solution.

Students will then undertake detailed primary and secondary research work, including a critical literature review, an analysis of findings leading to a specification of the solution. They will then model, create, and document the production of an artefact that is relevant to their course of study and that is a solution to the problem set out in the proposal, realising the results of their research; writing a report describing the business and technical aspects of the project, the models, and the artefact; the processes involved in undertaking the project, and a critical reflection on the project's findings and outcomes. Ultimately, making a presentation of the business/technical aspects of the project, including a demonstration of the artefact and a critical evaluation of the project outcomes.
