This module will prepare students with an interest in FinTech and its applications the understanding and appreciation of the ethical and legal issues associated with artificial intelligence, as well as to the methods of analysis of those issues. This module takes an interdisciplinary approach uncovering the important aspect of finance and banking technology combined with Ethics and Law. The module will provide real world illustrations about ethical and legal concerns in different AI applications, their potential implications and how they can be addressed. These illustrations will be presented and discussed in the form of case studies where students can apply their learning and are able to formulate and communicate their views, translating abstract ethical or legal concepts into business practice where FinTech is implicated. A key focus on the professional standards frameworks applied to banking and finance and use of technology within this will be explored to help students understand the limitations of technology use within legal and ethical parameters.
