Module Indicative Content
This module aims to provide you with an understanding and awareness of a range of contemporary applied arts practice. There will be an emphasis on developing structure and form, allied to an exploration of the surface treatment of wood and plastic. There will be an introduction to a number of processes associated with the activity. It will enable you to generate and develop ideas appropriately using a selection of materials and provide a practical workshop experience including the localised health & safety code[s] for the relevant workshop[s].
Module Learning Strategies
Technical instruction, demonstrations and workshop practice enabling you to handle equipment, processes and materials safely and effectively (including the appropriate technical skills modulettes).
Tutorials where you present your work in progress in order to receive constructive criticism.

Independent study where you will engage in unsupervised activities including the development of your technical and practical skills.
Execution of a practical brief and assessment preparation.
