Module Indicative Content
This module will involve you in the study of a number of extracts from plays and then the rehearsal and performance of one or more of those extracts. You will study the professional theatre approach to the rehearsal and production process including directing and acting, as well as production and technical support (i.e. stage management, lighting design and operation, setting and costume design and implementation, sound design and operation and publicity and marketing). The module will include technical and dress rehearsals and performances of the extract(s) before invited audiences.
Module Additional Assessment Details

Continuous Assessment [Learning Outcomes 1,2,3]
Fulfulment of general assessment criteria for practical work (see Award Handbook)
Module Learning Strategies
Workshops (4 hours per week total) will enable you to explore the problems of presenting extracts from plays (approximately 30 minutes in length) and study and understand the particular elements involved in developing them for the stage. The extracts will be performed in basic "blacks" with costume "add-ons" and a modest amount of production and technical support. Students may also be required to attend a number of production meetings in the course of the module. All students must have received the basic Health and Safety awareness training which will enable them to carry out practical work safely.
