This module will involve you in the rehearsal, staging and performance of a modern play. You will study the professional theatre approach to the rehearsal and production process including directing, acting and production and technical roles (i.e. stage management, lighting design and operation, setting and costume design and implementation, sound design and operation and publicity and marketing). The module will include technical and dress rehearsals and performances of the play before an audience.

Through workshops, rehearsal and tutorials, students will study and undertake the preparation, rehearsal and staging of a full-length play (or double bill). Students will move from a first 'read-through' and weekly rehearsals and production meetings to final technical and dress rehearsals leading to a public presentation. Students will also be expected to work on the project independently outside of timetabled staff contact hours. Punctuality, attendance and preparedness for work will be part of the continuous assessment of the student's understanding of the importance of creative collaboration.
