Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module introduces the students to the basic process of designing for the theatre. In the first semester students will be taught how to analysis a text and research the context of a play and how to communicate creative ideas using professional methods such as scale model-making and costume drawings or images.

In the second semester practical assignment work will be underpinned by an understanding of the historical and cultural development of design for the stage and knowledge of the work of key practitioners.
Module Learning Strategies
Seminars and workshops will explain methods of research and script analysis and give practical training in scale-drawing, model-making and costume design.
Lectures will provide an understanding of the historical context and development of scenography.
