ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
For 1 of the 2 placements:
A 30 minute Presentation (including 20 minute presentation and 10 minutes Question and Answer) [Learning Outcomes 1-4] 30%
This presentation will allow you to research and present on a relevant topic of their own choosing, that has been informed or influenced by their placement. You will be expected to critically reflect upon what you have learned during your placement.

For the 2nd of the 2 placements: [Learning Outcomes 1-4] 30%
You can negotiate the second form of assessment. This may be in the form of a second 30 minute Presentation as indicated above, a Viva, a Practical Demonstration of a technical element followed by a question and answer session or weekly Blackboard blog reports on your placement.

For each placement:
An Oral Appraisal [Learning Outcomes 1-4] 40%
The oral appraisal comprises of a 15 minute interview with the module leader, followed by a consideration of the comments on the pro-forma filled out by the venue supervisor(s). The questions in the interview and the pro-forma formats are based on the module outcomes and you are individually marked.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will allow you to work with professionals within the professional theatre environment. You will undertake two contrasting placements (for example, in a sound design department in a producing theatre and in the stage management department of a receiving house.)

Each placement is for 30 hours (approximately one half-day per week or equivalent by arrangement with the Placement Supervisor and/or the placement organisation) which will constitute the contact hours for the module. The particular work/research undertaken will be discussed and agreed between the Placement Supervisor, placement organisation and the student. This will ensure a programme of experience and training that maximises the benefits for all parties.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
You will engage closely with professional practices involved in at least two of the professional theatre environments.
Whilst the Drama and Theatre Arts awards have a number of official placements, you are also entitled to negotiate your own placement should you demonstrate to the Module Leader the need for the placement to be outside of our own. For example, if you have a specialism that you have become interested in.
Whilst one of the assessments should be a presentation, you can also negotiate the second assessment strategy in consultation with the Module Leader.
You will consider the issues and problems which arise in the particular profession and environment. A work experience report from the placement organisation will provide formative assessment for the module.
