There are two strands to the module content. A skills strand builds upon the tools of directing such as textual analysis, research, rehearsal techniques and build a critical understanding of these skills in relation to the rehearsal room.
A conceptual strand explores philosophies and methodologies of directing, concentrating on examining key directors such as Ariane Mnouchkine, Katie Mitchell, Max Stafford-Clark, Declan Donnellan and Lev Dodin.
