Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will involve you in the study, preparation, shoot and edit of an extended film piece.
Under the guidance of a professional film maker, you will examine the approaches required in the production and shooting of an original film (on location) which may be either improvised (in the Mike Leigh approach) or written for the cohort.
Punctuality, attendance and preparedness for work will be part of the continuous assessment of your understanding of the importance of creative collaboration.
Following the shooting and editing process, the film will have a professional showing of the work.
There will also be a number of screenings study the staging of a commensurate films as dictated by the project.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
You will undertake relevant tutorials and workshops in your specialist area prior to the shooting.
This will be related to character development and supporting you in adapting your theatre actin, rehearsal and performance styles to camera, as well as translating your Level 5 work for this film.
Prior to the shooting period, performers will therefore examine and explore how to prepare a film for performance.
A final intensive shoot period will then take place You will attend some student-led independent rehearsals and shoots alongside the professional director’s calls. Punctuality, attendance and preparedness for work will be part of the continuous assessment of your understanding of the importance of professional standards in creative collaboration and film making.
You will also support in the editing of the final film alongside the director.
Throughout you will engage in critical and reflective analysis via online journal entries demonstrating a cobtextual understanding of your role(s).

A PERFORMANCE length no longer than 0.5 HOURS weighted at 70% [Learning Outcomes 1,4]
You will be marked on your individual contribution within the group performance as either an actor, director or production member in the execution of the film including pre-production , production and shooting process.

A CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT weighted at 30% [Learning Outcomes 2,3]
You will be individually assessed at key points via online Journal Entries by Blackboard in relation to the role which you undertake- specific details of this will be in the Handbook and on Blackboard. Continual Assessment will also include your overall attendance, punctuality and commitment and application of creative concepts and ideas.
