Module Indicative Content
This module aims to develop your abilities in planning teaching and learning in the specialist context. You will analyse a range of assessment processes necessary to plan and provide a range of specialist teaching and learning and to consider such factors as the target group, levels of ability, accessibility, work based learning, distance learning and learners unable to access education outside their own home, including hospice, hospital, prison service or other provision.
You will analyse, interpret and reflect on theories and practice on specialist research that informs practice (e.g. Byatt, Jordan, Dee.) and their potential influence on outcomes and groups and how to relate these theories to your own learners.
You will evaluate how relevant government policy (e.g. SEN Green Paper, White Paper, Autism Act) in relation to specialist teaching impacts on your own sector and practice.
You will analyse, interpret and reflect on your own organisations¿ support for specialist learners.
You will analyse and interpret on how the learner is central to the assessment process and reflect on a holistic approach to this.
You will reflect on the individual needs of learners who experience a range of specialist learning differences and develop an understanding of how to address these to maximise progress.
You will identify and use a range of resources, including specialist assistive technologies, to support learning opportunities.
You will identify and discuss barriers to progression, strategies to support this and ways in which advice and guidance can be accessed.

An Assignment length 2000 words weighted at 75%. (LO1-5) Presentation 500 words 25% LO (1,2,3,4,5)

All assessment tasks must be passed at level 5.
