Task one – group presentation (1000 word equivalent) (LO 1) (25%)
Task two – 2000 word report (LO 2,3,4) (75%)
Indicative Content
The module will explore the underpinning approaches and principles behind working with young people and adults. This will involve an examination of community education, adult education as well as working with young people. Students will examine the impact of such issues as drugs, peer pressure as well as the needs of young people such as relationships with others, in order for them to thrive as learners.
Students will examine what impacts current policy in this field of youth and community education.
Learning Strategies
The teaching strategies will employ a range of methods, including lectures, seminars, one to one tutorials, practice presentations and case study observations. Peer group discussion and the use of Blackboard will allow students to share ideas and experiences and will encourage reflection and evaluation. The learning strategies will require students to commit 300 learning hours of which 72 hours will consist of contact time, 228 hours will independent study hours.
