The End-Point Assessment (EPA) for the Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard (ST1414) is designed to evaluate an apprentice's competence in their role.
Assessment Methods:
The EPA comprises two distinct assessment methods:
Observation with Questions (assessment 1 listed above)
* The apprentice is observed by an independent assessor undertaking normal work duties for a minimum of 2 hours.
* During the observation, the assessor will ask a minimum of 6 questions to confirm knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs).
* Graded as Fail, Pass, or Distinction.
Professional Discussion Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence (assessment 2 listed above)
* The apprentice engages in a structured discussion with an independent assessor, lasting 60 minutes.
* The discussion is underpinned by a previously submitted portfolio of evidence and includes a minimum of 10 questions relating to the role.
* Graded as Fail, Pass, or Distinction.
Overall Grading:
The apprentice's performance across both assessment methods determines the final apprenticeship grade: Fail, Pass, or Distinction.
