Module Learning Strategies
Workshop reviews of subject content and examples of assessment and lesson planning to meet the attainment target. The sessions will respond to the acquisition of subject knowledge and the emerging needs of the associate teachers in their preparation of material for teaching. This will involve examining appropriate approaches to particular topics, taking into account both contemporary thinking within the discipline, and the constraints of school syllabuses and facilities.

You will apply the understanding you gain through your reading and the Consortium sessions to your lesson planning and assessment strategies. You will have opportunities to follow up sessions and certified courses to help meet gaps in an individualised skills audit. You will discuss with your tutor and Subject Mentor specific issues concerning the nature and significance of various aspects of Physical Education opportunities across Key Stages 3 and 4.

A further 123 hours of independent study will require you to take responsibility for relating the issues addressed in this module to your personal experience and building up evidence in your portfolio. Your Subject Mentor and Course Tutor will support you in this process.
Module Indicative Content
Develop knowledge of 4 activity areas and how these might be taught and developed during KS3 to either examination or core courses in KS 4 and beyond. The place and relevance of activity and the place it might take in and beyond the curriculum and within post school experiences. Linking school programmes to a national framework and other national schemes e.g. addressing PESSCL. Making assessment an integral part of planning and delivery. Using monitoring and assessment to aid relevance, progression and challenge to the delivery. The individualised use of enhancement courses to aid the breadth and depth of subject knowledge. Awareness and accreditation of leadership courses relevant to health and activity based programmes.
