Module Indicative Content
Curriculum requirements in Information Technology: National Curriculum, GCSE, GNVQ, CLAIT, AS/A2 Level. ICT skills, information systems, e-commerce. Current developments in the application of IT in education e.g. video conferencing. Classroom management and organisation and the role of the teacher in teaching with IT. The implications of theories of learning for the use of IT in education.
Module Learning Strategies
Workshops will review curriculum content, examples of assessment and lesson planning and practical sessions will concentrate on the use of generic software and the management of hardware. You will be asked to analyse and compare different approaches to the assessment of IT capability You will also be asked to work with others in preparing and giving presentations.
A further 123 hours of independent learning will require you to apply the understanding you gain through your reading and the university sessions to your lesson planning and assessment strategies. You will have opportunities to discuss with your tutor specific issues concerning the nature and significance of various aspects of information technology in education.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2000 word assignment on the design and evaluation of assessment of IT capability. Assesses all learning outcomes.
