Module Learning Strategies
Workshop reviews of subject content, examples of assessment and lesson planning. The sessions will respond to the emerging needs of the associate teachers in their preparation of material for teaching. This will involve examining appropriate approaches to particular topics, taking into account both contemporary thinking within the discipline, and the constraints of school syllabuses. You will also make use of standard textbooks and key learning resources to refine your subject understanding. You will apply the understanding you gain through your reading and university sessions to your lesson planning and assessment strategies. You wil have opportunities to discuss with your tutor specific issues concerning the nature and significance of various aspects of business studies.

Module Indicative Content
The use of assessment by teachers for a variety of reasons and a variety of audiences. Formative and Summative assessment methods. Recording and reporting of findings. Linking schools systems to a national framework. Making assessment an integral part of planning and delivery. Assessment criteria and methods of assessment in Key Stage 3, GCSE and AS/A2 Level. Issues of moderation and achieving a standard that is consistent in a single establishment and across a national cohort.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A 2000 word assignment on assessment and its role in Design and Technology (100%) which will assess Learning Outcomes 1-4.

- A comparison of school practice to accepted good practice and consideration of external constraints.
- Evidence of a scheme of assessment and its implementation in school.
- Evaluation that reflects an understanding of the effectiveness of planned assessment.

- Background highlights key issues in assessment strategies.
- A detailed comparison with justifications of school practice to accepted good practice with a sound understanding of the role of external constraints.
- Evidence of a considered scheme of assessment and detail of its implementation in School.
- Evaluation that reflects a detailed understanding of the effectiveness of planned assessment with evidence of consideration of possible future developments. Clear evidence of consideration of how assessment can improve pupil performance.
