Module Details
Indicative Content
This module involves a placement in an educational setting which extends professional development by considering the particular communications skills required to work in an education team. The students will develop their practice in educational settings which should include developing the skills of planning and implementing activities for learners if in a direct educational role. It will enable practitioners to establish evidence of advanced practical skills and learning from work based activities. .

Students will engage in reflective analysis to enhance their own performance within the setting

Assessment Details
Summative Assessment
1. A reference obtained from setting (LO5)
(This assessment will be zero weighted, but candidates must acquire this in order to prove the placement was completed).

2. A reflective and analytical account of one or two initiatives/ activities/incidents observed in the placement which demonstrated a team working approach (3000 words, LO 1 – 3 75%)
3. A critical reflection of personal development in relation to aspects of chosen professional standards (1000 WORDS, LO 4 25%)

As part of the requirements of the module the reference is non compensatable.
Special Admissions Requirements
This module may not be compensated and must achieve at least a pass grade to successfully complete the degree at either ordinary or honours level.

Learning Strategies
The learning strategies will require students to commit 300 learning hours which will consist of contact time, placement attendance and independent study hours.   96 hours (or 16 school days)  will be placement attendance.   The student will achieve the learning outcomes of the module mainly through remote learning in the work place setting. The student will need to complete placement paperwork and identify a work place mentor (class teacher)and tutor support will be by e-mail or telephone.
