Module Details
Module Indicative Content
The previous Dissertation Part 1 module provides students with the tools required to be able to design and carry out their own educational research and analyse data, ensuring as much as possible viability and reliability within their own research. Thus preparation for conducting the empirical study and the writing up of the project is achieved in Dissertation Part 1 module.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A written research report (8500 words) weighted at 100% which:
a) Presents research data generated through the project in a transparent manner and analyses this data to address the research aim and objectives.
b) Demonstrates that the findings and analysis are appropriately contextualised with critical reference made to published sources.
c) Presents a critical and reflective commentary on the research methods used.
d) Translates the outcomes of the research into a series of professional recommendations.

Module Learning Strategies
When the students embark on this Dissertation Part 2 module they have already produced a detailed research proposal (which includes a critical review of published literature in their chosen area) during Dissertation Part 1 module. They are now expected to independently conduct and write up the research project outlined in the Dissertation Part 1 research proposal. Students are expected to achieve this during Dissertation Part 2 module, through independent study and research activity through the following: retrieval of information, location of evidence, analysis, interpretation and synthesis of materials, critical thought and evaluation, questioning of assumptions and where appropriate, to relate theory and practice. Guidance and formative feedback will be provided throughout this module by an academic supervisor, allocated to the student according to the topic and theme of the research project.
