Minimum 10 hours per month teaching at HE level
While studying on this module, participants will normally be engaged in teaching at higher / professional level for an average of at least ten hours per month as well as having a role in assessment.

Assessment: A critically informed reflective presentation on your academic professional practice
Justify choice of an appropriate reflective model. Utilise this model, general education and discipline specific literature, local documentation and your portfolio evidence to present a critically informed reflection on an aspect of your contribution to assessment and feedback in relation to your learners and your Higher or Professional Education provider.
(Assesses LOs 1-4, 100% weighting).
Indicative Content
The module provides an overview of key knowledge, skills values and behaviours required by the lecturer new to higher and professional education. As such, it covers key principles assessment and feedback to and from learners and stakeholders. This includes consideration of the context of the HE and Professional education sectors and how learner and employer needs can be identified and met.

During the Wider Professional Practice module, you will develop your ability to:
(i) Use a variety of approaches to assessment
(ii) Give fair, transparent and constructive feedback to learners
(iii) Use feedback from learners to improve quality of provision
(iv) Evaluate and improve curriculum offer
(v) Understand stakeholder contribution to quality enhancement
As well as classroom based and online learning, you will observe a practitioner from a different subject area to give insight into alternative approaches to facilitating learning. You will share good practice with colleagues relating to assessment and feedback as well as how stakeholder feedback is used to contribute to curriculum development and quality enhancement. You will give an assessed presentation on an aspect your professional practice relating to your contribution to enhancing the quality of provision at your workplace.

Additionally, as a part time course there is an expectation of considerable independent study. Participants are expected to consolidate and build upon their learning from the taught sessions by reading key texts and journal articles and undertaking follow-up tasks and work based self-assessments.
