MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module will be delivered in blended mode, which allows for a variety of teaching approaches and formative, assessment for learning strategies to be applied. The main strategies to be used will be: short lectures, experiential activities, classroom and forum discussions, presentations, critical analysis of journal publications, peer-to-peer teaching and peer learning. There will also be opportunities for synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning using our Moodle VLE. Students are expected to assume ownership of their learning in accordance with the principles of the course and the content of this module, with support from academic mentors. Peer learning is promoted through presentations of work and subsequent discussion and evaluation.
The module provides leadership and management training for ESOL professionals interested in working in several different kinds of ESOL institutions. Students are introduced first to the fundamental principles of management and even more specifically of language school management, planning & organization, teacher education and development, the marketing skills needed to succeed in the field of educational management and the strategies required.
The module is especially useful to those interested in school management areas. Through theoretical and practical examples and on-the-spot analyses and discussions of case studies, students gain an understanding of the ever-changing and empowering role of pedagogy and foreign language education within a multicultural and multi-linguistic society and become aware of the need for advocacy and equity in TESOL management.

Students are introduced first to the fundamental principles of management and even more specifically of language school management, planning & organization, teacher education and development, the entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed in the field of educational management and the strategies required. The module becomes a step-by-step Handbook, especially useful to those interested in the aforementioned school management areas. Through theoretical and practical examples and on-the-spot analyses and discussions of case studies, students gain an understanding of the ever-changing and empowering role of pedagogy and foreign language education within a multicultural and multi-linguistic society and become aware of the need for (and hopefully learn to apply) advocacy and equity in TESOL management.
