INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will provide knowledge and understanding of a range of electrical circuit analysis tools including analytical and practical analysis tools. It will cover basic electrical and electronic principles, fundamental theories that allow the computation of electrical quantities and performance evaluation of electrical circuits. Ohm’s and Kirchoff’s laws will be practiced determining currents and voltages in a range of circuits and practical/simulation set-up will be used to validate the analytical results. Mesh and nodal analysis will be performed on circuits with series and parallel connections to establish the rules for the division of voltages and currents. Semiconductor device characteristics and applications will be discussed. Finally, engineering applications and mitigation of energy security challenges will be explored.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A 3000 words individual report weighted at 100%, assessing learning outcomes 1, 2, and 3. The coursework will require evidence of research, analysis, and results from practical setup. The report is expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of circuit analysis and the practical evaluation methods to real applications. AHEP 4 Outcomes C2 and C10
Professional Body requirements mean that a minimum overall score of 40% is required to pass a module, with each element of assessment requiring a minimum mark of 30% unless otherwise stated.
