Module Additional Assessment Details
One formal report based on laboratory work which is to be recorded in a log book and which will assess learning outcomes 1 and 2 (50%).
One 2 hour examination which will assess learning outcomes 1 and 2 (50%).
Module Indicative Content
Discrete analogue transistor circuit design and analysis, introduction to feedback theory, introduction to the operational amplifier, operational amplifier circuit design and analysis. Application e.g. audio and signal amplifiers, waveform generation, oscillators, introduction to active filters, introduction to power supplies. Gain, frequency and bandwidth definitions, use of decibels. Use of analogue circuit simulation software. Class A and Class A B Power Amplifiers.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures (24 hours) and tutorials (12 hours) to support the indicative content. Student centered laboratory based practical work and written work.
This module may be delivered full-time on a block delivery basis by West Cheshire College.
