Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Transducers and interfacing to a pc.
A pc programming language to read sensor data and act upon it.
Effects of interfacing, sampling rate and quantisation.
Basic control of a servo system, highlighting effects of altering gain: speed of response and overshoot.
Methods of modelling and simulating real systems
plc systems and ladder diagrams.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
1 x 1.5 hour class test - 40% which will assess Learning Outcomes 1, 2.

Coursework (60%) Comprising two laboratory experiments, equally weighted (30% each) - which will assess Learning Outcome 3.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
You will receive a mixture of lectures (2 hours per week), tutorials/laboratories (1 hour per week) and case studies to demonstrate the above.
