Module Learning Strategies
Lectures / laboratory experiments / tutoris (36 hours) will form the main teaching activities. (1:20)
Module Indicative Content
- Power system over voltages: calculation and computation of transient overvoltages, Bewley Lattice Diagram, Dommel?s Theory
- Unbalanced system analysis: Systemetrical components, calculation of system currents and voltages for line to ground, line to line, and line to line ground faults.
- Power system stability: Swing equation, equal area criterion, analysis of stability of either a single machine connected to a large system or a two-machine system.
- Protection: Circuit breaker failure, primary and back-up protection, SF6 circuit breakers, unit protection.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework 30% - Practical and numerical work and reports which 1000-1500 words will assess Learning Outcomes 3 and 4.
Exam 70% 2 hours which will assess Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3.
