Module Additional Assessment Details
1 x 2 hour exam (70%) which will assess Learning Outcomes 1 and 2.
Written assignment on laboratory based work (30%) which will assess Learning Outcomes 3 and 4.
Module Indicative Content
Introduction to Digital Signal Processing (DSP), sampling in the time and frequency domain, quantisation and encoding. Convolution, correlation and auto correlation. 1D and 2D Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT). Spectral analysis. Fast convolution, coefficient quantisation, round off, overflow, linear estimation, adaptive filtering, artificial neural networks, speech coding, recognition and synthesis. Two dimensional signal and image processing. DSP devices and architecture. Z-transform and applications. Design of digital filters including Finite Impulse Response and Infinite Impulse Response. Discrete Fourier transforms. Multirate DSP, linear prediction.
